Rev. Laura Bentley,
Laura is an Organizing Pastor for a New Worshiping Community in Lawrenceville, called Sanctuary. Sanctuary’s ministry is focused on the “nones” and “dones,” those who are skeptical of organized religion, but need a place of belonging to wrestle with spirituality and faith practices. Her ministry at Sanctuary is half-time, allowing her to bring the visions, emphases and heart for mission to us at OPC. (By the way, Pittsburgh Presbytery has the largest number of New Worshiping Communities of the entire PCUSA).
She is a 2016 graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she receive her Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in Church Planting. In 2010, she received the World Christian Discipleship Certificate from the World Mission Initiative that works collaboratively with PTS. She was ordained this past summer.
Laura has served as a youth director, camp and wilderness counselor, and an intern in student ministries at several churches.
Laura and husband Ed have one daughter, Junia, and one dog, Calvin. They currently live in Sharpsburg.
As Mission Development/Coordinator she will be working with the other pastors to develop a vision for mission involvement for OPC; staff the Mission team, and, most importantly, build and maintain partnerships with local and national missions.
We welcome her to OPC and her leadership in worship and mission.
