Nov. 12 & 19 – The Adult Education Committee has juggled scheduled topics this fall to devote two Sundays for opportunities to consider recent events in Israel and Gaza. OPC’s Coffee & Conversation will provide a forum for sharing views and asking questions.

Reactions to the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7 have varied widely from horror and condemnation to arguments that Israel left Hamas no choice but to strike back.

Rev. Dr. Steve Crocco will make brief introductory remarks both mornings and moderate the discussion. Nov. 12, he will lay out the claims by Judaism, Islam, and Christianity that they are religions with ‘just war’ traditions, i.e., conditions when it is permissible to go to war and conditions for waging war. On Nov. 19, he will consider how these traditions account for civilians in the way of conflict.
