Our Charge
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you!
As the Father has sent me,
I am sending you."
John 20:21
Our Understanding of Service and Mission from Romans
When our purpose is to give credit to God for his love,
power, and perfection in all we do, we can serve him properly. None of
us can be Christlike by ourselves - it takes the entire body of Christ to
fully express Christ. When we actively and vigorously embody the love
of Christ and build up other believers, Christians can be a symphony of
service to God.

Study Bible)
OPC Mission
The goal of mission at Oakmont Presbyterian Church is one
of not only financial support but one, whenever possible, that promotes
"hands-on participation." In this way we can actively and vigorously
build up others for the Kingdom of God. In doing so, we are mutually
encouraged in our Faith.
Mission to Arecibo, July 11-16
Our Senior High Youth Group will travel to Arecibo, Puerto Rico to share the
gospel with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, while serving the
homeless and helping host a vacation Bible school. If you have a
Facebook account click on the link above and see the up-to-the-minute
whereabouts and pictures from the trip. |

Advent & Christmas Alternative Giving
YOUR CHRISTMAS
GIFT WORKING FOR OTHERS

You have an opportunity to not only
support local mission at OPC but to honor others who are important to you.
The mission committee has created a Christmas card with a photograph of our
communion table, advent candle wreath and poinsettias. This card contains
the special message of Christmas as well as a place for a personal message
to honor or remember a friend, family member, teacher or other special
person. This card is the perfect answer of “what to get someone” when they
really don’t need anything. The “need” is
provided by supporting our local “Open Hands” mission project. There is no
specific cost associated with giving this card; we just recommend that you
donate an amount that you would spend for a gift. The cards are available
in the Fifth Avenue narthex or in the church office. The OPC mission team
wishes you the hope and peace that the message of Christ’s birth brings us.
