Roberta “Bert” Erickson has been the Director of Handbells at Oakmont Presbyterian Church since 2004. Under her leadership  additional handbells have been acquired expanding the instrument 5 octaves, and 5 octaves of handchimes have also been purchased.

Bert also directs a handbell ensemble at City Music Center at Duquesne University and is director of handbells at The United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington.

Not only a director, Bert is a handbell soloist who frequently shares her music ministry with congregations and organizations throughout southwestern Pennsylvania. Click here for a listing of upcoming performance dates and locations.

A Note From the Director
We welcome all – OPC members, friends, families and visitors – to join us in the Ministry of Music. We have handbell groups to suit people of all ages and abilities. There is no need to audition – you just need some musical ability and a heart for making “a joyful noise unto the Lord.”

The Grace Notes

Age Requirements: Grades 4 - Adult

Ensemble Description:
The Grace Notes is our beginning handbell choir for those who have little to no musical
background and handbell experience. This is the perfect group for those who would like to learn how to play handbells!

JuBELLation Ringers

Age Requirements: Grades 6 - Adult

Ensemble Size: Currently 13 ringers

Ensemble Description:
The JuBELLation Ringers is our intermediate handbell choir designed for those who
enjoy playing more challenging music and utilizing special techniques.
Music reading skills are required.
 

Rehearsal Schedule:
Mid-August through end of May
Weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
 

Worship Schedule:
September through May
Monthly play at both services.

Additional Worship Opportunities:
December - Carol Walk
May - Jubilant Praise
Various other concerts within the community.
