Ensemble Description:
The OPC Children's
Choir involves enthusiastic children in the activities of learning:
General music and singing skills & Worship leadership skills
The ensemble uses a selection of engaging repertoire from The Chorister's
Guild
and other sources to produce quality children's music in an effort to enhance
the worship experience.
The children's choir also presents a fully staged childrens musical each year
during worship.
Rehearsal Schedule:

Mid-August through the end of May
Weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays, 3:45-5:00 p.m.
NOTE to potential members outside the Oakmont area:
Snack time begins at 3:45, giving commuters time to arrive.
Please don't let that be a deterrent to joining!

Age Requirements: Grades 6-12
Ensemble Size: Currently 15 choristers
Ensemble Description:
OPC children "graduate"
from the Children's Choir to this ensemble in sixth grade.
This ensemble strives to make use of and build upon musical and worship skills
learned
in the Children's Choir. Repertoire includes a wide variety of genres from
standard
choral repertoire to quality contemporary pieces. The focus is on learning
to present music in
worship with energy and enthusiasm.
Rehearsal Schedule:
[The current rehearsal schedule is more involved than usual due to the musical
production.]
Chorus Rehearsals: weekly on Sundays, 9:00-9:30 a.m.
Musical Solo Rehearsals: weekly on Sundays, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Musical Cast Rehearsals: weekly on Sundays, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
NOTE: Evening rehearsals begin with dinner at 5:00,
followed by rehearsal at 5:30 p.m.

Ensemble Size: Double-quartet
Ensemble Description:
This "chamber
choir" leads worship and performs an eclectic array of quality choral
literature from gospel to "praise music" to classical. Members of
this ensemble are also members of the Chancel Choir
and occasionally provide solo and quartet support within larger Chancel Choir
pieces.
As this ensemble's list of memorized pieces grows, the group is in the process
of becoming a "repertoire"
ensemble - with "ready" selections for worship and performances
in the community.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Mid-August through end of May
Weekly on Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
NOTE to potential members: As this ensemble is a double-quartet, membership
is currently closed.
However, please feel free to contact the director if interested, as we are
in frequent need of substitutes.

The Chancel Choir
is a vibrant group of choristers committed to presenting the Gospel in song:
Clearly, Appropriately, and Accessibly.
As the principal worship leaders at OPC reliability and commitment are important
qualities its members must possess.
In addition to worship leading, the choir also presents special seasonal choral
works and performs at community events.
NOTE to potential members: This group is seen not only as a music ensemble
but also as a type of "small group ministry"
in which members pray for, care about and socialize with each other as an
important aspect of the group's ministry.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Mid-August through end of May
Weekly on Thursdays from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
NOTE to potential members: When we are preparing a special cantata or other
performance,
"guest" members are invited to come to the first hour of rehearsal
without requiring a weekly worship commitment.

is our beginning handbell choir for those who have little to no musical
background and handbell experience. This is the perfect group for those who
would like to learn how to play handbells!

Ensemble Description:
The JuBELLation
Ringers is our intermediate handbell choir designed for those who
enjoy playing more challenging music and utilizing special techniques.
Music reading skills are required.

Weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Worship Schedule:

Age Requirements: Over the age of 60
Ensemble Description:
A Joyful Noise
is our Senior Chime Choir designed specifically for those over the age
of 60. No musical background or handbell experience is needed to join this
group.
Things are structures a bit differently for this group to make it more accessible
to our aging
population. For example, we ring sitting down with music stands (orchestra
style) and enlarge
the music to assists those with vision problems. The rehearsal schedule has
also been shortened,
which makes it possible for those who travel frequently to still be able to
participate.
