Advent
Advent is a time to open ourselves to the love of

The 31st Annual Carol Walk
will be held Sunday, December 11th 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm. This
"progressive", ecumenical service of Scripture readings (lessons),
Christmas Carols and beautiful choral music of the season, begins at
6:00 pm at Oakmont Presbyterian Church (corner of
Pennsylvania Ave. & 5th Street). The event opens with the
reading of the first two Lessons and music by our JuBELLation
Ringers, Believe Voices and a combined anthem from our Children's
Choir and Chancel Choir. The Walk will then continue to St.
Thomas Episcopal Church (corner of Delaware Ave. & 4th St.),
then to St. Irenaeus Roman Catholic Church (385 Maryland
Ave.) and will conclude this year at Oakmont United Methodist
Church (corner of Maryland Ave. and 5th Street). As has
been the tradition, after the final church has offered the final
Lessons, carols and anthems, the area church choirs and singers
from the community join together in a combined choir to offer
several selections celebrating the season. This year we will
sing two anthems dedicated to the memory of the creator and
longtime Carol Walk Director, Marti DiGioia-Kistler, who died
earlier this year. Marti loved her organ and piano duets and
so one of the anthems features this, played by Ken Hand (St.
Irenaeus) and Polly McQueen (OUMC), the other is accompanied by four
hands, one piano. Michael Frank (OPC) will serve as the Carol
Walk Director. Following the finale, the host church will host
a lovely reception for everyone. Plan to attend this wonderful
community celebration of Christ's Birth and invite someone to
join you!
